A Message From The President

I started JDM Medical in the garage of my home in 1989; a simple operation with one mission: I wanted to improve the lives of those individuals whose needs for durable medical positioning equipment were not being met by the large device manufacturers. At that time, 28 years ago, devices were mass-produced for the sake of cost reduction and efficiency—the Henry Ford concept. These products were “universal” in their design as well as their functions. However, people are created differently and with unique medical needs. Standard devices did not work. It is often stated that, “necessity is the mother of invention,” and it was this original concept of meeting an individual’s unique needs through ‘resident specific positioning’ to make them more comfortable that led to the birth of a new industry and the creation of this company.

A lot has changed in the past 28 years, but it has never been more exciting to be a part of JDM Medical.  Necessity has called repeatedly. Each time JDM has answered the call.  We have expanded our staff, ownership, and facilities over the years. We have incorporated new and better healthcare materials in our products. We have developed new product lines for the Hospice, Home Health, and DME industries along with the Long-Term Care industry.

We have grown enough that we can now continue to make unique custom devices for those who need them while at the same time producing a full line of universal products for everyone. We can fill a single custom order for an individual in need of a unique device, fill the needs of an entire facility, manufacture and sell thousands for international distributors.

There have been many changes in the medical industry over the years, but the goal of JDM Medical has remained the same as it was the first day in my garage. It is my personal desire, as well as that of my employees, to improve the lives of those individuals we have been called to help.

Yes, “our mission is to position.”

One final comment: I truly and humbly thank each of you who have so willingly passed on your knowledge, your passion, and your generosity to JDM over the years. Without you, we would not exist. I hope that no matter what tomorrow brings, we never forget that.

Thank you.

JDM Industries

Since 1989, JDM Medical has benefited from the input of hundreds of health care professionals in the LTC industry. With this accumulated knowledge JDM developed the concept of Resident Specific Positioning. This approach puts forth the belief that each patient’s body type, environment, abilities and disabilities are unique; therefore, each piece of adaptive positioning equipment should be just as unique. It is this concept that has allowed JDM to be the dominant provider for the therapy side of the LTC industry.

In addition to focusing on the therapy patients’ needs with “Resident Specific” devices JDM has addressed the continuum-of-care positioning products needed throughout the facility as well. JDM’s LTC products are designed to address falls issues, incontinence, skin/wound care prevention, contracture inhibitors, staff & patient safety, and staff training (on positioning), all with the patients’ needs first while delivering at the “best bang for the buck “to the facility.

JDM Medical has increased its product line to cover the specific needs for the DME industry and to help the DME providers in the out-of-per-diem items such as specialty cushions, wheelchair accessories, pads, alarms, mattress covers, and more.

JDM has partnered with the several of the nation’s largest hospice groups and their DME providers. With their input, we have developed low cost devices that provide patient comfort and safety. These devices are designed and manufactured to retain the patient’s dignity and ease the caregivers burden.

The goal of Home Health care is to treat an injury or illness at home and to prevent either one’s recurrence. JDM manufactures many devices for preventative or treatment care. Some examples are skin tear prevention kits, pressure redistributing cushions, wheelchair backs, specialty devices which prevent falls, sensor pads for the wheelchairs & bed, kits designed to pad and bolster a wheelchair, foot and leg elevators and many more.

JDM Medical is a certified Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB). JDM’S founder Jack McDonald Sr has always believed in providing the highest quality medical devices for patients and it is his privilege to extend this philosophy to his fellow veterans of the Veterans Administration. Those who chose to stand up for this nation deserve the best care possible. JDM is honored to provide a line of upper-end positioning products, which includes cushions, amputee cushions, back supports, arm troughs, bolsters, back supports, foot and calf supports, patient safety devices and many more.

JDM began as a customized product manufacturer in 1989 with the concept of Resident Specific positioning. This concept allowed JDM to develop a vast amount of experience in customization. This knowledge has translated into a manufacturing operation which is very efficient at understanding the need, developing the device required and delivery the product both expeditiously and cost effectively.
